Health & Safety

Our employees are our most valuable asset. It is the policy of Energy Answers that every person is entitled to a safe and healthy place in which to work. Establishing and maintaining a safe environment is a shared responsibility of both employer and employees at all levels of the organization.

The Company’s success depends not only on our contributions towards enhancing production, but also how safely each job is performed. There is no job so important–nor any service so urgent–that we cannot take time to work safely.

In 2002, while under the ownership and operation of Energy Answers, three Massachusetts operations, Cape Resources Company, eco/Pittsfield, LLC., and eco/Springfield, LLC received SHARP status. SHARP (Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program) is awarded through the Massachusetts Department of Labor & Workforce Development, Division of Occupational Safety.

The SHARP designation is awarded to employers who demonstrate, through inspection, that they meet or exceed all of OSHA’s workplace safety regulations, have injury rates below that of their industry, and have important safety program elements in place. The three facilities were the first non-manufacturing sites in the state to achieve SHARP status and was the first multi-facility employer in the Northeast region to achieve SHARP.

In 2007, these facilities were sold to Covanta Energy.
