Gordon L. Sutin - Director, Vice Chairman and Executive Vice President

Since 1981, Mr. Sutin has served as a key individual throughout the development of Energy Answers. As one of the founders, Mr. Sutin was actively involved in the design of SEMASS and served as General Manager throughout construction, start-up and shake-down. He currently oversees engineering and technical services for Energy Answers’ solid waste management projects overseas, and is active in the development of overseas projects.

Previously, Mr. Sutin had a consulting engineering practice in Hamilton, Ontario. He was responsible for the design of SWARU (Solid Waste Reduction Unit), the first facility in the world designed for specifically burning 100% pre-processed municipal solid waste. SWARU received the Award of Excellence in 1973 from Canadian Consulting Engineer and the Association of Consulting Engineers of Canada, recognized the facility as “the top civil engineering project in Canada”.

Mr. Sutin acted as a consultant to Smith & Mahoney, from 1978 until 1981, in the design of the ANSWERS facility, which was modeled after SWARU.

Mr. Sutin's professional affiliation is with the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario. He holds a B.A.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto.
